The ADC has the option of engaging the
standby mode when conversions are stopped. Standby mode is an automatic power-down mode
enabled by the STBY_MODE bit of the
CONFIG2 register. Standby is entered and exited when conversions stop and start,
respectively. During standby, sampling of the signal and reference voltage are stopped. When
conversions are restarted, sampling of the signal and reference voltages resume. Exiting
standby mode requires an additional 24 clock cycles to the normal conversion latency time.
