The battery voltage is clamped at 3.5% above the battery regulation voltage. When the battery voltage is over VBAT_OVP_RISE, the converter stops switching until the battery voltage is below the falling threshold. During a battery over-voltage event, the safety timer stops counting and STAT pin reports the fault and it resumes once the battery voltage falls below the falling threshold. A 7-mA pull-down current is on the BAT pin once BAT_OVP is triggered. BAT_OVP may be triggered in charging mode, termination mode, and fault mode.
