7.3.4 Protection and Diagnostics

The DRV81008-Q1 supports multiple protection features, discussed in detail in the subsequent sections. The SPI interface provides diagnosis information about the device and the load status. Each channel diagnosis information is independent from other channels. An error condition on one channel has no influence on the diagnostic of other channels in the device (unless configured to work in parallel, see Section 7.3.3.4 for more details).

When either an Overcurrent or an Over Temperature occurs on one channel, the diagnosis bit ERRx is set accordingly. As described in Section 7.3.4.2 and Section 7.3.4.3, the channel latches OFF and must be reactivated setting corresponding CLRx bit to 1b.
