The ISO722x family of devices transmit
digital data across a silicon dioxide based
isolation barrier. The digital input signal (IN) of
the device is sampled by a transmitter and at every
data edge the transmitter sends a corresponding
differential signal across the isolation barrier.
When the input signal is static, the refresh logic
periodically sends the necessary differential signal
from the transmitter. On the other side of the
isolation barrier, the receiver converts the
differential signal into a single-ended signal which
is output on the OUT pin through a buffer. If the
receiver does not receive a data or refresh signal,
the timeout logic detects the loss of signal or
power from the input side and drives the output to
the default level.
