9.3.5 VDD Bias Supply

Wide VDD voltage ranges from 7.5 V to 18 V are supported by an internal LDO which regulates supplies the internal low voltage and buck-boost converter circuits. If the VDD input voltage is less than 9 V, then the maximum switching frequency is de-rated. TI recommends to use a 12-V unregulated power supply to supply VDD, otherwise no external LDO is needed.
