9.5.6 EEPROM Programming Flow

Before the EEPROM can be programmed, it is necessary to program the desired configuration to the SRAM through the memory control registers. The register data can be written to SRAM by committing the active register configuration internally (Method #1), or by using direct writes to SRAM (Method #2). Method #1 requires the active registers be first programmed to the desired configuration, but does not require knowledge of the SRAM/EEPROM map. Method #2 bypasses any writes to the active registers configuration, allowing the device to continue normal operation without disruption while the SRAM/EEPROM are programmed.
