9.1 Application Information

The TPD4S311 provides 4-channels of Short-to-VBUS overvoltage protection for the CC1, CC2, SBU1, and SBU2 pins of the USB Type-C connector, and 4-channels of IEC ESD protection for the CC1, CC2, SBU1, and SBU2 pins of the USB Type-C connector. Care must be taken to insure that the TPD4S311 provides adequate system protection as well as insuring that proper system operation is maintained. The following application example explains how to properly design the TPD4S311 into a USB Type-C system.
