10.3.1 Simple 24-V Power Supply Path Protection

With the TPS1663x, a simple 24-V power supply path protection can be realized using a minimum of three external components, as shown in the schematic diagram in Figure 10-9. The external components required are a R(ILIM) resistor to program the current limit and C(IN) and C(OUT) capacitors.

Protection features with this configuration include:

  • 39-V (maximum) overvoltage clamp output
  • Inrush current control with 24-V/500-µs output voltage slew rate
  • Accurate current limiting with auto-retry
