8.2.2.3 Bootstrap Capacitor Selection

A 0.1-µF ceramic capacitor must be connected between the BST to SW pins for proper operation. TI recommends using a ceramic capacitor with X5R or better grade dielectric. The capacitor C5 must have a 16-V or higher voltage rating.

In addition, adding one BST resistor R4 to reduce the spike voltage on the SW node, the resistance smaller than 10 Ω is recommended to be used between BST to the bootstrap capacitor.
