8.3.1.1 Buck Operation

When VI > VO, the device switches like a buck converter:

  • Q1 is the switch.
  • Q2 is the rectifier.
  • Q3 is permanently off.
  • Q4 is permanently on.

See Figure 4. During buck operation, one switching cycle comprises two phases: on–off.
