7.3.14 Safety Timer

The TPS652170 device hosts an internal safety timer for the precharge and fast-charge phases to help prevent potential damage to either the battery or the system. The default fast-charge time can be changed in the CHGCONFIG1 register and the precharge time can be changed in the CHGCONFIG3 register. The timer functions can be disabled by resetting the TMR_EN bit of the CHGCONFIG1 register to 0b. Both timers are disabled when the charge termination is disabled (the TERM bit is cleared to 0b).
