ZHCSD04E November 2014 – March 2022 TPS65400
PRODUCTION DATA
When a timeout condition occurs, the I2CALERT terminal is pulsed low for 200 μs. A timeout condition is defined as per SMBUS 2.0, tTIMEOUT. In addition to SCL, a timeout condition also occurs when the SDA line is asserted low. If the timeout condition persists, I2CALERT continues to pulse every tTIMEOUT. The TPS65400 never intentionally pulls the SCL low beyond tLOW:SEXT(1), as that violates timing specifications. Therefore, the I2CALERT terminal acts as a watchdog for other devices sharing the same bus that violate the cumulative clock low extend time. On a system level, it can be seen as a non-maskable interrupt (NMI) signal for the I2C bus.
