6.2.2.1 SMPS Input Capacitors

All SMPS inputs require an input decoupling capacitor to minimize input ripple voltage. Using a 10-V, 4.7-µF capacitor for each SMPS is recommended. Depending on the input voltage of the SMPS, a 6.3-V or 10-V capacitor can be used.

For optimal performance, the input capacitors should be placed as close to the SMPS input pins as possible. See the Section 6.3.1 section for more information about component placement.
