8.3.3.2 Schottky for Current Surge Protection

To prevent the possibility of large ground currents into the TPS65987DDK during sudden disconnects due to inductive effects in a cable, it is recommended that a Schottky diode be placed from VBUS to ground as shown in Figure 8-13.
