The TPS7B4255-Q1 incorporates reverse current protection that prevents damage from a fault condition, resulting in V_OUT being higher than V_IN. During such a fault condition, where the V_IN and V_OUT absolute maximum ratings are not violated and V_OUT – V_IN is less than 40 V, no damage occurs and less than 0.5 μA of reverse current flows through the LDO. The reverse current comparator typically responds to a reverse voltage condition and, along with the body diode of the blocking PMOS transistor, limits the reverse current in 1 μs.
