7.2.2.4 LED Current Set Point

Solve for sense resistor, RCS:

Equation 33. R C S = V I A D J ( M A X ) 14 × I L E D ( M A X ) = 2.3 14 × 5   = 0.0329  

A standard resistor of 33 mΩ with tolerance better than 1% and low temperature coefficient is selected. The power dissipated in RCS is calculated:

Equation 34. P s e n s e = D P L M T × R C S × I L E D M A X 2 = 0.1362 × 0.033 × 5 2 = 0.1124   W

A resistor with rated power of 250 mW and above must be selected.

A resistor divider network, with standard values 57.6 kΩ and 34 kΩ, from VCC pin to GND sets the nominal LED current reference voltage of 1.856 V. A 10-nF capacitor from IADJ pin to AGND pin is included to filter high frequency switching noise.
