8.2.2.4 Output Capacitor Selection

The TPSM5D1806 requires a minimum amount of output capacitance for proper operation. The minimum amount of required output varies depending on the output voltage. See Figure 7-5 for the required output capacitance.

For this design example, three 100-µF, 6.3-V, ceramic capacitors are selected for the 1.0-V output. For the 1.8-V output, two 100-µF, 6.3-V ceramic capacitors are selected. Additional output capacitance can be needed to meet transient requirements.
