7.3.8 Ambient Temperature Versus Total Power Dissipation

When operating the TPSM5D1806E in dual channel configuration with different output voltages, the maximum operating ambient temperature can be determined using the total power dissipation of both channels. Refer to the power dissipation curves, Figure 6-2 and Figure 6-9, to determine the power dissipation for each output. Sum the power dissipation of both outputs to calculate the total power dissipation. Refer to Figure 7-6 to determine the maximum allowable operating ambient temperature for a given total power dissipation. Increasing the airflow allows operation at a higher ambient temperature.
