7.5.12.2 (45h) VOUT_UV_FAULT_RESPONSE

The VOUT_UV_FAULT_RESPONSE instructs the device on what action to take in response to an output undervoltage fault.

Upon triggering the undervoltage fault, the device:

  • sets the OTHER bit in the STATUS_BYTE
  • sets the VOUT bit in the STATUS_WORD
  • sets the VOUT_UV_FAULT bit in the STATUS_VOUT register, and
  • notifies the host (asserts PMB_ALERT, if the corresponding mask bit in SMBALERT_MASK is not set)

The VOUT_UV_FAULT_RESPONSE command must be accessed through Read Byte/Write Byte transactions.

The VOUT_UV_FAULT_RESPONSE command is shared between Channel A and Channel B. All transactions to this command affects both channels regardless of the PAGE command.

00h: Ignore. The controller sets the appropriate status bits, and alerts the host, and continues converting power.

BAh: Shutdown and restart. The controller shuts down the channel on which the fault occurred, and attempts to restart after a delay of 20 ms. This process occurs continuously until the condition causing the fault has been removed, or the controller has been disabled.

80h: Latch-off and do not restart. To clear a shutdown event due to a fault event, the user must toggle the AVR_EN/BEN pin and/or the ON bit in OPERATION, per the settings in ON_OFF_CONFIG, or power cycle the bias power to the V3P3 pin of the controller device.
