3.4.1.1 IIR Filter

The infinite-impulse-response filter (IIR) is a simple first order filter of the form:

Where eq02_sbou157.gif. The filter responds to change slower (stronger filter) for larger α, but this will also lead to greater motion blur. Therefore, IIR filter is better suited for static scenes, such as in 3D scanning applications.
