11.2.1.2.1 Basic Operation

In the configuration shown in Figure 23 ATL431LI will behave as a comparator, comparing the VREF pin voltage to the internal virtual reference voltage. When provided a proper cathode current (IK), ATL431LI will have enough open loop gain to provide a quick response. This can be seen in Figure 24, where the RSUP=10 kΩ (IKA=500 µA) situation responds much slower than RSUP=1 kΩ (IKA=5 mA). With the ATL431LI max Operating Current (IMIN) being 0.08 mA, operation near that could result in low gain, leading to a slow response.
