Figure 3-1 describes the process of selecting sensor parameters for measurement optimization. It is important to make these design decisions with the desired sensing range in mind, because different applications may have different priorities.
To maximize resolution the sensing range should be within the linear region of the inductance versus distance response, as discucssed in Section 2.2. To help verify design, the Inductive Sensing Design Calculator Tool is a general purpose tool that allows sensor parameters to be entered in the Spiral Inductor Designer tab and checked against device specifications. There are also various device-specific tabs that allow further visualization of system performance.
