DSS:  DSS Smart Standby May Cause Synchronization Issues

Details

Enabling DSS Smart Standby may cause synchronization issues with the PRCM, which may render the DSS inoperable.

DSS MIDLE_MODE = 2 (SmartStandby) should not be used because of possible synchronization issues.

Workarounds

The following sequence must be followed to avoid synchronization issues.

During DSS initialization

  • Bring DSS module out of Standby by configuring DISPC_SYSCFG.MIDLEMODE = NO_STANDBY (Value: 1).
  • Configure the remaining DSS memory mapped registers.
  • Enable the LCD channel by configuring  DISPC_CTRL.LCD_EN.

During DSS Disable

  • Disable LCD channel by configuring  DISPC_CTRL.LCD_EN.
  • Put DSS in Standby by configuring DISPC_SYSCFG.MIDLEMODE = FORCE_STANDBY (Value: 0).
