7.1 Overview

The TPS25820 and TPS25821 devices are highly integrated USB Type-C source controllers with built-in power switches developed for the USB Type-C connector and cable. The TPS25820 supports VCONN, while the TPS25821 does not. The devices provide all of the functionality needed to support a USB Type-C DFP in a system where USB power delivery (PD) source capabilities (for example, VBUS > 5 V) are not implemented. The devices are designed to be compliant to the USB Type‑C specification, release 1.3 which added new requirements to discharge VCONN.
