To set bits in a register without changing the other bits, the I2C controller must provide an I2C command with four frames, as illustrated in Figure 7-29. The register address is the address of the register in which the bits must be set and the register data are the values representing the bits that must be set. Bits with a value of 1 in register data are set and bits with a value of 0 in register data are not changed. The opcode for set bit is listed in Table 7-4. To end this command, the controller must provide a STOP or RESTART condition in the I2C frame.
