9.4.1.4 Fail-safe Mode

Fail-safe mode is a low power mode in which the TCAN1162-Q1 is in a protected state. While in fail-safe mode the internal regulator (VFLT) is off, the INH pin is off, and the CAN transmitter and receiver are off.

Fail-safe mode is entered if:

  • TJ > TSDR
  • VVFLT > OVFLTR

Fail-safe mode is exited if all of the following criteria are met:

  • TJ < TSDF
  • VVFLT < OVFLTF
  • A valid wake-up event exists

If the fault condition is not cleared within tINACTIVE then the device will transition into it's lowest power mode, sleep mode.
